Leisure time activities play an important part in the lives of Atmore residents. A pleasant climate, numerous annual events and excellent city recreational facilities which include tennis courts, walking trails and swimming pools provide a variety of activities. The newly created Atmore Heritage Park on Main Street with it's relocated historic buildings is a unique setting for new events. West of town, the Atmore Country Club offers members and their guests a beautiful nine hole course to play and enjoy. Nearby rivers and woodlands teeming with trophy game will satisfy the demands of the sportsman who enjoys fishing or hunting.

 

For the youth of the community, the Atmore YMCA provides a full range of sports programs such as soccer, basketball, tee-ball and volleyball. Children enjoy the after school and summer day camps with the experienced YMCA staff. For adults and seniors, a variety of aerobic classes, free weights and a fitness center is available.

The City of Atmore also offers an extensive recreational program which includes tee-ball, girls fastpitch softball, youth baseball, pee wee football, tennis and swimming lessons. Four city parks serve the citizens of Atmore.

Claude D. Kelley State Park is located twenty minutes north of Atmore. This 960 acre park provides scenic trails for hiking and bicycling as well as fishing and swimming on a 25 acre lake. Improved and primitive campsites, rental boats, picnic shelters, and cottages are a few of the amenities available.

The residents of Atmore are fortunate to have a well organized whose theatrical productions showcase talent from all segments of the community. The Greater Escambia Council for the Arts offers many theatrical opportunities for old and young alike.
Located north of town, just off interstate 65 is the Atmore Dragway, an 1/8th mile track which attracts race car enthusiasts from across the southeast. Perdido Vineyards located at the I-65 Raburn-Perdido exit offers free wine tasting tours Monday thru Saturday.

Try your luck at the Creek Entertainment Center. The gaming room is open 24/7 with high stakes bingo played every Friday thru Monday afternoons.
